Is Cloud still on the horizon?

June 20, 2016 · by Akil Chomoko

crossroadsWhen a major global brand enters a new market and quickly becomes synonymous with that market, it’s clear that there’s a solid new sector on the up. This is the case with the increasing importance of the public cloud as a powerful tool for business – illustrated by the stratospheric impact that Amazon Web Services (AWS) is making in the provisioning of cloud services.

Clear minds look to the Cloud

March 1, 2016 · by Andy Tiller

178991640In Barcelona for MWC last week the outlook was all clear skies with a temperature that was very acceptable for the time of year. But it seemed as if the telco service providers at the event were more interested than ever before in looking to the Cloud, and for companies like us, that means the temperature is rising as the market heats up. Screen Shot 2016-02-18 at 10.30.27If you work in the mobile industry, you know it is that time of year again – the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which opens on Monday 22 February. Last year the event saw more than 93,000 visitors from 200 countries – numbers that ‘shattered previous records,’ according to the post-Congress announcement from the GSMA.

It’ll never catch on…

February 3, 2016 · by Michael Wu

It'll never catch on...It’s hard to imagine life now without the Internet, or the mobile phone. And yet neither of them started life with a mass consumer audience in mind. Mobile phones were the preserve of the rich and famous, and the Internet was simply a way for academics and technologists to exchange and share information. Read More →

What does 2016 hold in store for the telecoms industry?

December 18, 2015 · by Guest Blogger

Bengt-Nordstrom_2128x2018_3_14Every year consultants at Northstream gaze into their crystal ball and predict a few trends or developments for the telecoms industry in the next 12 months.

You can check out their full list here. One of this year’s predictions caught our eye in particular, so we asked CEO and Founder of Northstream, Bengt Nordstrom to expand on the theme of how operators can take “operational efficiency” to the next level. Read More →

Beware the spider’s web!

June 1, 2015 · by Katie Matthews

A Big Spiders Web among the rocks Many have compared telcos’ transformation from pure-play telco to digital players as a metamorphosis. You can see why: the weak, bloated caterpillar (telco) emerging from the chrysalis, reborn as a strong and beautiful butterfly (digital player). A fair analogy but one that perhaps does little to convey the massive pressure that telcos are under to transform the business model. Think, perhaps, instead, of the bullish caterpillar, preparing to emerge from its chrysalis, as spiders build webs all around it, ready for the butterfly to flap straight in to! Read More →

MWC, Lent, and some dietary advice

February 16, 2015 · by Katie Matthews

Rohkost Diät

It’s that time of year again – when otherwise sane and intelligent people decide that for the next 40 days they are not going to eat any chocolate, drink any alcohol, have more than one coffee a day, or order chips with their burgers. It’s going to be salads and water all the way for the period known as “Lent”.

Opportunity Words Experience Chance for New Opening

A Juniper research study released this week has claimed that voice and messaging traffic lost to OTT (Over the Top) players, such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Skype, will cost network operators $14 billion in revenues globally this year. The study says that this is up 26% on 2013. Read More →
